Indigo doesn't know her precise origins. She was left at the altar of Nald'thal when she was a newborn where she was taken in by the priests, none of whom could discern who her mother was when Indigo was handed off to them. Indigo spent the first five years of her life in an orphanage in Ul'dah before she was adopted and brought to Old Sharlayan by her current parents.Life in Sharlayan was certainly an improvement from her life as an orphan. Her physical needs were met, at least: Food, shelter, education... But her parents were seldom home and even when they were, they would be so occupied with work, they could spare Indigo very little attention. The only time Indigo received any attention or encouragement was when she was praised in school for her academic achievements or when her parents would brag to others about those very same achievements. This would have consequences later in her life. She was accepted into the Studium during her four and tenth summer and leaned toward a focus on medicine and botany. She was not, however, the kindest nor most agreeable student. She was arrogant, spoiled, and entitled, and that attitude would eventually lead her to an incident that culminated in getting introuble with both the Forum and her parents. As a result she was cut off from her allowance and forced to earn her own way.Despite this set back, she graduated with high marks and great pride in her academic achievements. It was during graduation that her parents gifted her with a set of nouliths which quickly became her most prized possession. She worked as a Gleaner for a few years before the Forum approved a grant for one of her proposed research projects overseas, when she finally came to Eorzea to study plants as she originally dreamed. But as fate would have it, her fate would be changed forever when she stopped to help a mysterious man clad in heavy black armor and dying from his grevious wounds...
